My work grew out of cabinetmaking, a command of hand tools, close observation and research. Restoring instruments from different periods allows me to examine their construction, understand why particular solutions have endured and apply that knowledge to new guitars.

Restoring an old guitar requires an understanding of how it was built, the changes it has undergone and which elements genuinely belong to its history. Before any intervention, I examine its structure, woods, joints, finish and previous repairs.

Researching the guitar from the maker’s workshop
I study the mechanical behaviour of wood, the relationship between structure and tension, and the way an instrument responds to precise construction changes.
I develop tools, devices and prototypes that allow individual components to be assembled, compared and modified. Every trial and unexpected result opens new questions.

Handmade flamenco guitars
Built to respond to the player
I build each guitar by hand in Estepa. I work with the relationship between scale length, string tension, action, structure and the mechanical properties of each piece of wood.
I seek comfort for both hands, a clear attack, balance and enough dynamic range for each player to develop their own sound.
