Research that begins with restoration, building, observation and the need to keep asking questions about the instrument.
Research is not an activity separate from building or restoration; it forms part of the same process: observing, asking questions and trying to understand the guitar more deeply.

Research is not about finding a formula
In my work, research begins with a specific question and always returns to the instrument. I study how wood behaves, the relationship between structure and tension, and how the guitar responds to precise changes.
The aim is not to find a universal solution, but to understand what happens in each case and make decisions based on my own judgement.
Observe and test
The guitar is a balance
Every element contributes to the instrument’s behaviour: the woods, the joints, the structure, string tension and the passing of time. Restoration makes it possible to observe that behaviour after decades of use; building makes it possible to apply what I have learned and test new solutions.
